Laptop City Hall: Madison's budget is set, but the drama isn't over

Last week's budget hearings were packed with more drama than city hall veterans of these sessions can recall in a long time, most of it due to the controversial Edgewater hotel project. And it isn't over yet.

The City Council stunned Madison by deadlocking 10-10 Tuesday on an amendment that would have extended a $16 million tax subsidy for the luxury hotel redevelopment into 2012. The next night, it approved a $250.8 million spending plan, narrowly averting Mayor Paul Soglin's threat of a veto by handing him another victory and funding an arts study he wanted. (The council defied the mayor's wishes, however, by approving a $500,000 subsidy increase for the Overture Center.)

So that stuff is settled.

Now we have to deal with the fallout.

The first question is what happens next to the Edgewater. Is the project that just won't die really dead this time? Many think so.

So long as it has at least 2gb of ram the HD size, screen size etc are more or less irrelevant for gaming and in any case a gaming laptop always has enough HD space and a decent screen. Best gaming performance tends to come from nvidia based graphics. You would be best of with 512mb or 1gb dedicated graphics memory. Intel based graphics chipsets are rubbish for gaming.
