How do I hook up multiple monitors to my laptop?

I have one port to hook an additional monitor to my laptop. I am currently using the one and I would like to know if their is a way to hook up more just using the one port on my computer.

You might be able to find a monitor docking station or something (kind of like a USB hub, but for VGA).

Or you could use one that plugs into a USB:

What's a good programming laptop that supports at least two ...

So far I've found some laptops that support both hdmi and displayport, but I'm not sure if it's possible to connect two monitors digitally through these connections like with hdmi/vga. For example the Alienware m17x offers these two ports but can you connect both of them to each their own monitor?

Any suggestions on how to connect two monitors digitally for a poor programmer that doesn't want to ruin whatever's left of his eyesight reading blurry text.

You can use either:

A laptop with multiple direct connections (assuming the drivers support multiple monitors) A laptop with a docking station that offers multiple connections Matrox DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go as long as the resolutions aren't too high USB to DVI assuming you want resolutions of 1600x1200...
