Who says you can’t take it with you?

Certainly not the folks at Piquadro leather accessories shop at 1286 Bay St., which specializes in travel items including luggage, daytime organizers, business cases, handbags, messenger bags and wallets.

There is also a smattering of apparel like puffy coats, scarves, gloves and belts.

Piquadro is an Italian line, founded in 1987. The name means “P squared,” referring to both Palmieri (after its founder Marco Palmieri) and “pelletterie” (leather goods). In its first decade, Piquadro subcontracted for leading Italian luxury leather goods brands. The first store opened in Milan in 2000.

The shop smells wonderful, like expensive leather. It has been open since April. There are 100 Piquadro stores worldwide. This is the first in Canada and the first in North America.
