Q. When I hover over a link, it automatically clicks even though I didn’t click it. It drives me crazy. Is there any way to stop this? I am using a Dell laptop with Windows 7, if that helps diagnose the problem.
A. Due to the way that a laptop is set up, it can be very easy to inadvertently click on things when using the computer. This is due to the placment of the touchpad, which is used in lieu of a mouse or other pointing device like you would use on a desktop computer.
This problem you are experiencing is most often the result of having your touchpad sensitivity set too high. With the sensitivity set too high you can easily find yourself selecting or clicking on items, even though that was not your intention.
You can reduce the the aggravation by adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad.

I am having issues with the touchpad on my Gateway laptop. It began after re-installing Windows. The cursor will select whatever it is sitting on without me clicking the touchpad mouse buttons. Basically, it clicks on its own. It seems to happen more
i think it has to do with corrupted window registry's and the mother boards assigning ports , i reinstalled windows to fix it but i think it goes deeper than that into the boards bios and the CPU interrupt program . IE when you move the mouse the cpu
