help with Asus laptop memory!!!!?

i have an Asus 2500h laptop that has memory 256mb. if i want it to become 1GB, do i buy 1GB or just buy 512 to make it ....... 768mb?!

I'd just buy the 1GB. More memory's good. :)

The Asus N53SV Laptop | Geek with Laptop

The Asus N53SV is the latest in the Asus N53 series, and it looks like one very fast and well balanced laptop.  Key features include a 2.0GHz Intel Core i7 processor, a 15.6 inch screen, an Nvidia GT-540M GPU, and 1366 x 769 pixel resolution.

The N53 series by Asus is well known for its speed and balanced all-round spec sheet.  The Asus N53SV looks like living up to its predecessors, with a fast i7 processor and the choice of downgrading to an i5-2410M or an i3-2310M.  The Nvidia GT-540M GPU is also likely to make this a solid gaming machine, and almost puts it into the desktop replacement category.

Other features include 4GB of DDR3-1066 memory, a 750GB, 7,200 rpm hard drive, and an 8X DVD burner.  However, there is no getting around the fact that this is a large computer, and at 6.4 pounds it is not the kind of laptop you are going to want to carry around all day long.  It is also far from slim at 1.6 inches thick, although this does leave room for a lot of power underneath and a spacious keyboard and touchpad on top.
