Apple will launch refreshed models of the popular MacBook Air laptop in the first quarter of 2012, including a new 15-inch model, according to a Digitimes report.
Hardware manufacturers are expected to debut between 30 and 50 new “ultrabook” laptop models at CES in January. Ultrabooks, like the MacBook Air, have a minimalist thin-and-light design philosophy and emphasize low power usage and strong processing abilities. If the Digitimes report is true, Apple is concerned about the new deluge of Windows-based MacBook Air competitors and wants to have the most up-to-date components for a refreshed model to better compete.
The Digitimes report says Apple has planned new MacBook Air notebooks with panel sizes of 11.6, 13.3 and 15 inches, but only cites unnamed sources from the Apple manufacturing supply chain. (Digitimes has a hit-and-miss record with Apple manufacturing news.) Apple does not currently offer a 15-inch MacBook Air, but it does offer a 15-inch MacBook Pro, so an eventual 15-inch option on the Air is a reasonable guess.

What I wish to purchase is a half affordable apple PC or laptop. What shall I go for.

But if a paper released (from embargo) by the Delfte University of Technology in Holland is anything to go by, we might soon be seeing Apple laptops running Mac OS X - the desktop operting system, not the iOS of the iPhone and iPad - also running on

Mini Apple Stores may be headed to Sam's Club As members know, Sam's Club already sells Apple's lines of iPods, iPads, and iPhones. If the deal goes through, Apple will have a larger “store-in-store” setup, which would offer Mac desktops and laptops, in addition to Apple's mobile devices. |

iPad-like MacBook Air now unlikely? Was it even necessary?
Apple seems to think a MacBook Air with iPad-like internals is not necessary. In the wake of a research note from Citigroup that seems to discount the possibility of a MacBook Air with iPad-like features, it's worth pondering what this could mean to

A Seagate Point of View 2011 white paper, “Laptop PC Storage Capacity Growth Continues Unabated” notes that the total available market for laptop PC hard disk drives worldwide in 2010 was 69 exabytes and is forecast to grow to 95 exabytes in 2011.1
One exabyte of storage capacity equals 1 million terabytes, or 1 billion gigabytes, so that’s a lot of storage capacity out there. Seagate also predicts the average capacity of notebook hard drives to grow from nearly 300GB in 2010 to more than 350GB in 2011. These market prognoses are based on Gartner’s Forecast: “NAND Flash Supply and Demand, Worldwide, 1Q09-4Q11, 4Q10 Update, December 2010.
Seagate contends that laptop users want more capacity, not less, and the demand is not being met with the NAND flash memory media in solid state drives (SSDs), which challenges conventional wisdom in some circles that SSDs will substantially displace hard disk drives in laptop PCs, also noting that in 2010 the entire NAND flash memory industry had only enough installed capacity to produce just over 11 exabytes of storage, and more than 10 exabytes (93%) of that went to consumer devices such as smartphones, tablets and SD cards, with just 0.86 exabytes (7%) of that NAND used in solid state drives.
