How can i get my Bluetooth to work on my Acer Aspire 9500?

I downloaded the Bluetooth software from the Acer website and now it is saying my Bluetooth device is not plugged in. Do I need to buy a external Bluetooth device or something like that?
If so does it have to be Acer specific?
I also have

I think that the bluetooth device needs to be turned on. I had trouble with my Dell and they "turned it on"... I didn't get to see how. I would encourage you to contact Acer. Maybe they can hook up to your computer and fix the problem. Best
